Baby Play Space
3 months to walking
This offering is inspired by Emmy Pikler’s research which emphasizes that motor development is facilitated by the infant’s own initiative.
This offering follows RIE principles:
Basic trust in the child to be an initiator, an explorer, and a self-learner.
An environment for the child that is physically safe, cognitively challenging, and emotionally nurturing.
Time for uninterrupted play.
Freedom to explore and interact with other infants.
Involvement of the child in all care activities to allow the child to become an active participant rather than a passive recipient.
Sensitive observation of the child in order to understand their needs.
Consistency, clearly defined limits, and expectations to develop discipline.
Some of the questions we’ll be asking ourselves are:
What do babies want and what do babies need? And how do we tell the difference?
If you have a group of friends with babies this age or know a group of caregivers that would like to meet on Mondays from 12 to 1 PM (autumn, winter, spring time), please let us know; we would be happy to offer this class. We need a minimum of 5 Caregivers+Child to offer it.
