Pregnancy Circle

This offering invites expecting parents to come together to learn, explore, and share their physical, emotional and spiritual experience of giving birth.

The intention of this circle is to hold space for expectant parents to gather in community, receive support in preparation for labour and birth, connect with their bodies and their babies, set intentions for their journey of becoming a parent and learn about the Pikler approach to raising authentic babies.

Our holistic approach makes it a great addition to any other childbirth education class.

This 7-weeks community gathering will be divided as follows:

  • WEEKS 1: nourishment: Self-empowerment through information, healthy habits in nutrition for your changing bodies and growing babies, how can we nourish the emotional state of the pregnant body.

  • WEEL 2: movement & art expressions: Elements of prenatal yoga to support hips, lower back and shoulders & watercolor.

  • WEEKS 3: childbirth education: Everything you need to know about a normal birth, when labor begins on its own at hoe, early labor, active labor, when to go to the hospital and what to expect from there. Advocacy and support for mom, baby and partner, as well as their important role in the process. Setting intentions for a birth plan.

  • WEEK 4: childbirth education: Things you may not want but may become necessary such as induction and c-section. Epidural; when is it a good thing and when it might not be necessary. Practice on best positions during labor and for pushing as well as respective breathing. Writing a birth plan.

  • WEEK 5: feeding: All you need to know about breastfeeding and its substitutes with Lactation Consultant Meghan Guzman.

  • WEEK 6: home-birth: Conversations with a midwife.

  • WEEK 7: welcoming: Postpartum care and plan; reflection of what it means to bring forth life into the world; and, introduction to the Pikler approach to raising babies.

Facilitated by master doula Monica von Kanel and EC teacher Manuela DeMattei. We will also have guest speakers for special topics.
